Assessment Criteria
Overall Destination Alliances are looking for someone who has gone beyond the call of duty to help others and promote their local area as a tourist destination. In practice, this means that they possess some of the following attributes and examples should be given of their activity:
- They have demonstrated commitment to building their area as a tourist destination
- They have actively participated in activities and events that encourage local tourism
- They are actively involved in local community organisations
- They are a people person, processing a warm and welcoming personality
- They will be resident in the United Kingdom
We imagine that the winner of this award will either be working in the tourism industry (e.g. hotelier, restaurateur or running a tourism attraction) or be involved in management or promotion of the town/community (e.g. Town centre manager, town council, local authority or event organiser).
The decision of the judging panel will be final.
Timetable
- People will be nominated for the award by other people from their area in the UK
- People will submit nominations online here
- The closing date for entries will be the 1st August 2010
- The judging panel will comprise of : Michael Hancock CEO of Destination Alliances, Carol Butler and Nick Parker President of Destination Alliances
- Short listed candidates will be contacted to answer any questions we may have in helping us make our decision
- The winner will be advised by the October 2010
- The award presentation will follow on a date to be advised
